چکیده

A. We consider a class of infinite-state stochastic games generated by stateless pushdown automata (or, equivalently, 1-exit recursive state machines), where the winning objective is specified by a regular set of target configurations and a qualitative probability constraint ‘>0’ or ‘=1’. The goal of one player is to maximize the probability of reaching the target set so that the constraint is satisfied, while the other player aims at the opposite. We show that the winner in such games can be determined in NP ∩ co-NP. Further, we prove that the winning regions for both players are regular, and we design algorithms which compute the associated finite-state automata. Finally, we show that winning strategies can be synthesized effectively.

Reachability in Recursive Markov Decision Processes

We consider a class of infinite-state Markov decision processes generated by stateless pushdown automata. This class corresponds to 112 -player games over graphs generated by BPA systems or (equivalently) 1-exit recursive state machines. An extended reachability objective is specified by two sets S and T of safe and terminal stack configurations, where the membership to S and T depends just on ...

Regularity in Model Checking PDA Games

Concerning the model-checking problem of 1 1 2 -player games over transition graphs of pushdown automata (PDA) against the reachability objectives, we investigate the regularity of sets of configurations satisfying a given reachability objective. This is a natural question connected, e.g., to decidability of PCTL model checking. It was shown that these sets may not be regular even for probabili...

Stochastic Timed Games Revisited

Stochastic timed games (STGs), introduced by Bouyer and Forejt, naturally generalize both continuous-time Markov chains and timed automata by providing a partition of the locations between those controlled by two players (Player Box and Player Diamond) with competing objectives and those governed by stochastic laws. Depending on the number of players—2, 1, or 0—subclasses of stochastic timed ga...

Magnifying Lens Abstraction for Stochastic Games with Discounted and Long-run Average Objectives

Turn-based stochastic games and its important subclass Markov decision processes (MDPs) provide models for systems with both probabilistic and nondeterministic behaviors. We consider turnbased stochastic games with two classical quantitative objectives: discounted-sum and long-run average objectives. The game models and the quantitative objectives are widely used in probabilistic verification, ...

The value problem in stochastic games. (Le problème de la valeur dans les jeux stochastiques)

Game theory proved to be very useful in the field of verification of open reactive systems. This is due to the wide variety of games’ model that differ in the way players interact and the amount of information players have. In this thesis, we study the value problem for games where players have full knowledge on their current configuration of the game, partial knowledge, and no knowledge. In th...
